Google To Build Employees Their Own Google-city At first it was just a search engine, then an email provider, a cloud computing giant, a global cartographer, a fledgling realtor and, now, Google is to become no less than the sole owner of an entire city with the tentative playful moniker Googleville.
Since Google employees have shown unprecedented dedication to their corporate benefactor, reportedly working harder and longer than any other group of Silicon Valley tech-geeks, the Google powers that be have undertaken to build them a city to live in. Not coincidentally, and most conveniently, the city that will house some of Googles 23,000 US employees is located directly opposite the company headquarters in Northern California.
The subsidised housing complex will provide Google employees with cheap accommodation that encourages them to spend more time in the Google sphere of influence and work more overtime. While this may remind many normal human beings of a bizarre summer camp or boarding school living arrangement gone terribly awry, it is reported that many of the Google employees are eagerly awaiting their move-in date.
It is said that the ultimate goal will be to expand the headquarters in future and offer a community that provides all employees with an optimal work-life balance. Rumours of further physical expansion of the webhosting, search and email giants property in Silicon Valleys North Bayshore has led to widespread property speculation and other tech businesses moving listing their nearby properties in anticipation of Google buyouts.
A new website has been launched as a Google-gag, with participants discussing whether Google will apply its own principles of advertising, mapmaking, cloud computing and aggressive corporate takeovers within the confines the new Googletopia domain. With allegations in the press and amongst the internet using public that Google is perverting advertising standards and engaging in illegal trade practices, the news of a Google-city will be bitter medicine for many.
